Jide Kosoko’s wife, Henrietta dies at 53

Popular Nollywood actor and former president of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners, ANTP, Prince Jide Kosoko is bereaved. He lost one of his wives, Henrietta to the cold hands of death yesterday. She was aged 53.  Henrietta, who was also an actress, reportedly died yesterday morning after she slumped at their home and was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.

Confirming the death of their mother on their father’s Facebook page, Sola Kosoko and her sister, Bidemi wrote, “Henrietta Kosoko is dead. We will miss you Mama. May your soul rest in perfect peace.”   Until death, Henrietta who trained as a caterer before delving into acting celebrated her 53rd  birthday last week.

Sources close to her family said that  before her demise, she battled diabetes for a while, causing her sugar level to flunctuate. Reacting to her death, ANTP president, Comrade Victor Ashaolu described Henrietta’s demise as “a big blow to us in ANTP,  and the film industry.”

Last year, she was involved in an accident along Sagamu-Abeokuta road that almost claimed her life.  It would be recalled that Henrietta was acting before she met her husband, but it was Jide Kosoko who influenced her to go into acting full time. She became famous in 1995, after she played the lead role in the Yoruba movie ‘Omolade.”
