Confirming the death of their mother on their father’s Facebook page, Sola Kosoko and her sister, Bidemi wrote, “Henrietta Kosoko is dead. We will miss you Mama. May your soul rest in perfect peace.”   Until death, Henrietta who trained as a caterer before delving into acting celebrated her 53rd  birthday last week.

I just hope our gallant military personnel are prepared for any attempt or attempted attempt.

The new Niger Delta Militant group, the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force (JNDLF), on Monday reiterated its threat to unleash six missiles on the country.

The missiles, according to the JNDLF, would be released on Tuesday. In a statement on Monday, the group named its targets, and warned all those occupying the buildings to vacate them.

The statement, signed by General Akotebe Darikoro, Commander, General Duties; General Torunanaowei Latei, Creeks Network Coordinator; General Agbakakuro Owei-Tauro, Pipelines Bleeding Expert; and General Pulokiri Ebiladei, Intelligence Bureau, said the decision to notify the occupants of the buildings to vacate them was because the aim of their struggle was not to destroy lives.

According to The Eagle, the militants’ statement, unedited, reads in full:
“In our final meeting it was resolved that the Nigerian Communication Satellite Orbit should be shut down so that it will avoid the cause of electronic radiation to human lives.

“Also, the followings occupants of these buildings should as a matter of urgency vacate in them immediately IN THEIR OWN INTEREST to save their lives because our fight is not for ANY HUMAN BLOOD but to destroy all those infrastructures that were built with our oil and gas monies in this country. We will make federal government and oil companies to suffer as they have made the people of Niger Delta region suffers over the years from environmental degradation, and environmental pollution. “We equally advise the Diplomatic Community to be neutral on this issue as wrong comments against us will be seen as saboteurs. Where they are staying presently will not be affected which is not part of our targeted areas of destruction in the country.

“We shall embarrass the self acclaimed Nigerian Air Force with their recent deployment of fighter aircraft, helicopter gunship and surveillance aircraft when at this digital age, countries are talking about Missile development, and they still condescend so low of their present obsolete equipment. This is sad indeed!”

“Note, we are going to destroy the ones they have deployed to Escravos, Forcados in Delta State; Bonga oil field, Agbami offshore and Brass in Bayelsa; Bony in Rivers; Qua Iboe Terminal in Akwa Ibom State, and Opuekeba in Ondo State if they fails to remove them before time. The name Nigeria as a country will come to an end this week.

Panic in Oyo State as the Ground Begins to Quake in Many Areas

Residents of Saki in Oke Ogun area of Oyo State are now living in palpable fear over what they described as earth tremor that started few weeks ago. Places where the deafening underground vibration are ramp@nt are Medinat, Veterinary and Ogbooro areas of the town.

According to Wikipedia, an earth tremor (also known as a earthquake,or temblor) is the perceptible shaking of the surface of the earth, resulting from the sudden release of energy in the earth’s crust that creates seismic waves. Tremor can be violent enough to toss people around and destroy whole cities.

Nigeria experienced tremor in 1933, 1939, 1964, 1984, 1990, 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2009. The National President, Building Collapse Prevention Guild, Mr Kunle Awobodu, an expert in the built environment, recently stated that Nigeria, particularly the South-West region was not immuned to tremor.

According to him, geophysical and geological studies have discovered that a fault zone that connects with the Atlantic fracture system exists along Ifewara in Osun State and Zungeru in Niger State.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness, Alhaji Dauda Tijani said the underground vibration, which shakes houses in the affected areas to their foundations was very disturbing. For fear of being caught unawares, residents of the areas have left the community in droves.

He said: “The terrible vibration started about three months ago, but we thought it was a mere noise that would stop. Instead of stopping, it happens on regular basis. At times, the ground could vibrate five times a day and at times, it may not vibrate within three days.

"People are very confused and have vacated the affected areas. My child was living there before, but he has been living with me for the past one and half months.”

“When the ground vibrates, buildings in the areas would be shaking seriously and then stop”.

Another eyewitness, Mr Adeola Fehintola, a lawyer, said the tremor was very unsettling.

According to him, the Oyo State Government sent some people here, but they are not showing enough seriousness about the issue.

“The Federal Government should please send experts here to see what the noise is. If it is something they can prevent or do something about, let them come quickly. We see this thing as something that needs urgent attention so that when it eventually happens, there will be no casualty. Residents have deserted the area as I’m speaking with you and many more are moving their things out," he said.

When Vanguard called the Special Adviser on Environment to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, he directed enquiries to the Permanent Secretary on Environment, Oguntola Gabriel who said when something like that happens, it is a precursor to an earthquake.

He said: “First of all, we have not been there. I was in Abuja and I just came back. When the ground vibrates like that, it’s a precursor to an earthquake. But, for now, I can’t validate that. This week, we will make sure we are there to see what is happening.”

#OlayinkaMustGo: UNIBADAN Students Attempt To Sack Their VC Through Twitter

Students of the Premier university in Nigeria, the University of Ibadan on Monday trended the hash tag #olayinkamustgo in a bid to call attention to their claimed harrasment under the leadership of new VC Olayinka Idowu.

Reports say a student leader and former SU president Tokunbo Salako was Monday morning picked up by the campus security and bundled to a police cell where quick action by other students led to his release.

You would recall that a protest against student victimization and lack of light and water led to the school being shut down indefinitely on the 26th of April 2016

Below are some of the tweets

Fulani Herdsmen Attacks: OPC Can No Longer Protect Yorubas – Gani Adams Narrates

The National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams on Monday said his men may not be able provide enough security for Yorubas as the fulani’herdsmen attacks persist in the south west states.

Adams said that Yoruba people must be prepared to defend themselves against the attack of herdsmen which has continued unabated.

The OPC leader spoke at the lecture organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ondo state chapter to commemorate the 2016 Democracy Day with the theme, “Herdsmen/ Fulani clashes : what implication for inter- Ethnic relations/ Nigerian Economy.

Adams who was the guest lecturer at the event said Yoruba people’s negative comments over the activities of the OPC has demoralized the group.

He said the group particularly lost the zeal to protect the people because it has been branded tout, thugs and terrorist by the same Yoruba race.

He added that they were only recognised during elections but shot their doors against them after they might have won.

Adams lamented that it was painful that some traditional rulers do not encourage OPC in their communities.

According to him, “religion has taken away traditional means of protection from the people in Yourba land.

“When one is too fanatic in religious, it brings shame, religion is good, but when it becomes fanatic, it brings ridicule

“If we are being moderate in our religions in Yoruba land, be it Christian, muslim or traditional, who dares bring attack into our communities

“But Yoruba people are being hypocritical about traditional protections” Adam said.

He urged the people to use whatever traditional object they have to protect themselves and thier communities, saying the first law in heaven is “Self Defence”.

Also, the OPC chieftains bemoaned the President over his comment that the 2014 National Conference report would be kept in Archive, saying such statement is insulting.

Adams insisted that only the implementation of Confab report would bring lasting solutions to the crisis facing the country.

He said “before you think that I am exaggerating, consider this: between 2010 and 2013, according to a report, Fulani herdsmen killed about 80 people. However, by 2014, they had slaughtered 1,229 people.

“When you consider the Global Terrorism Index, you discover that Fulani herdsmen are not Number Four on the list of the deadliest terror groups in the world.

“Boko Haram, of course, takes the first position. As noted by a recent report, over 2,000 people were killed in conflicts between the herdsmen and different host communities in 2015 alone.

“In comparison, the regular Boko Haram kills 2,500 people annually.

“In a situation where a group of supposed herdsmen carry sophisticated weapons and wipe out entire communities, the unity of the Nigerian nation is indeed threatened”

“Those of us who attended the 2014 National Conference know that Nigeria cannot make any progress without implementing the report of that conference.

“For instance, the report deals extensively with how to eradicate the herdsmen/farmers’ clashes. Other recommendations of the Confab that require urgent implementation include the introduction of State Police, control of Solid Mineral by states where they are domicile, control of the Supreme Court by States, adoption of the French Presidential system of government , voluntary merger of states that so desire, Creation of Zonal Constitution, creation of more local government by states , federating units to participate in resource extraction and reduction of items on exclusive list.

“More fundamentally, it points the way forward for Nigeria. And that way forward is federalism. Let us go back to what we had in the First Republic, a system whereby the component units of this country would control their own resources and determine how to live their lives and what form of government to operate.

“If we do this, we will have a decisive framework for dealing with issues such as the one addressed in this brief

How Lil Kesh Have Taken To Managing His Business As A New Record Label ‘YAGI’ CEO

2016 will go down in Nigerian music industry as the year when the existing record label business structure was introduced to another business model.

The powers at YBNL, which have led from the studio, now lead from the business end after releasing Lil Kesh to create his personal record label.

Lil Kesh was officially signed in 2014, and took to the waters of the industry with ease, meteorically rising through the ranks to become one of Nigeria’s pop stars. His hit singles take the chief responsibility for that rise in fortunes, but you cannot exclude the powers of indigenous rap king, Olamide, who put him on, and gave him the backing to run.
Lil Kesh is now his boss, boasting of an album in his discography, and now a record label designed to fit his work and give him an imprint from where he can spread forth his tentacles and reach farther ends of the earth. The uproar from the announcement was palpable, with one section of fans applauding, others criticizing, and the third, looking for new ways to sensationalize the entire affair.

But reason has prevailed, and Kesh is in charge of his business. How does that make him feel? How has the weight of being responsible for his career.

“I’ve always been in charge you know. Olamide brought all his brothers up as soldiers. When he brought me into the industry…he was pulling a lot of stunts for us, but we knew what we were supposed to know. Because if it happens that he is not there for us in like a month from then, or a year or two years from then, then we’ll know how to handle things.

“I won’t say I’m having a tough time, and I won’t say that I just started controlling my career. He makes all his artistes decide what they want. He made us call our shots, he made us bosses right from time. He is not the kind of boss that builds artistes. Instead, he builds bosses.”

One of Lil Kesh’s first task as a boss is to promote his album, and his first decision was to release the video of his next single ‘Cause Trouble’, a dark urban visual which featured Ycee. Every day brings forth a new challenge for the boy, who just a little over two years ago, was a studio rat from Bariga, with just his talent, hope and a prayer on his lips. Everything had worked out nicely for him, and he has also worked had for all that he has acquired so far. The focus now is on keeping the good work up and building on what has already being laid.

“Of course Rome wasn’t built in day”, Kesh acknowledges. “We start from somewhere.”

Drama As Suspect Breaks Into Foursquare Church, Steals Motorcycle During Sunday Service

A suspected robber, Dare Amos, on Sunday sneaked into the Foursquare Gospel Church, Magboro, Ogun State and allegedly stole a motorcycle belonging to one of the worshippers.
Amos, who was at the verge of escaping with the motorcycle, was chased by security guards in the church premises who raised the alarm and mobilised some other motorcycle riders in the church.

They chased the suspect and arrested him as he was about riding onto the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said “Policemen from the Ibafo division were invited to take him away.

“The suspect gave his name as Dare Amos, 24 years, from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. He said he resides in Mushin, Lagos State.

“He went to the church to steal a motorcycle around 12.10pm. We have recovered the motorcycle from him and the case is under investigation,” Adejobi added.

Meanwhile, upon his arrest, the suspect said he took to robbery because he was hungry.

The suspect, who reportedly gave conflicting information about himself, allegedly claimed to be from the Mowe/Ibafo area of Ogun State.

He said he was a barber and it was his first time of committing a crime.

Asked why he decided to go to the house of God to steal a motorcycle, he said, “It is because I am hungry. My job is not bringing in enough money to cater to my family members.”

A member of the church, Ogungbola Adenekan, said the incident happened around 1 pm while the men’s fellowship was on.

Adenekan said, “The service was about rounding off when some ushers who knew the owner of the motorcycle came into the church. They asked the man if he gave anybody permission to take his motorcycle away and he said no.

“We immediately asked some of our brethren with motorcycles to chase the suspect. Some commercial motorcyclists also joined them. He was about to ride the motorcycle onto the expressway when he was caught by the members who went after him. They brought him back to the church.

“He had disconnected some of the wires in the motorcycle. He found a way to start it without any noise. He had sneaked into the church and acted as if he was a member.”

You Can’t Stop Me From Travelling Abroad - Fayose Dares Buhari

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has dared the Federal Government to carry out the alleged plot of preventing him from travelling out of the country, saying; “under the federal system of government, state governors are not appendages of the President and as a leading opposition figure in Nigeria, he cannot be cowed by
President Mohammadu Buhari and his agents.”

The governor, who reacted to reports that two governors, one from the Southwest and another from the South South have been placed on travel restriction on President Buhari’s order, in a press conference addressed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said; whenever he wished to travel out Nigeria, he will do so in the full glare of the public.

He said; “I am not surprised or disappointed by this latest plot of the Buhari’s government because the President Buhari that we know is a man without any atom of respect for the rights of Nigerians as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and this he demonstrated as a military dictator and now demonstrating as a democratically elected president.”

The governor said he was however amazed that “this dangerous dimension of compelling a sitting governor that enjoys Constitutional Immunity like the President to obtain clearance from the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS) before travelling out of Nigeria can ever be contemplated.”

He said President Buhari and his agents should be mindful of the fact that under a federal system of government, the states and national government both enjoy some autonomy, with sovereign power formally divided between the national government and the States such that each State retains some degree of control over its internal affairs.

Olayinka, who was flanked by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi said; “Few days ago, when Governor Ayodele Fayose was reliably informed that President Mohammadu Buhari had directed that he should be banned from traveling outside Nigeria, he simply took the information as mere rumour, concluding that disrespect for the constitution of Nigeria and Buhari’s dictatorship would not be extended to the most ridiculous level of preventing a governor elected just as the president from traveling out of the country.

“The thinking of Governor Fayose was that even though the Buhari’s presidency was capable of even attempting to prevent those opposed to the President from breathing the air, it must still be sane enough to be conscious of the consequences of placing any Nigerian under travel ban without an order of the court, not to talk of a sitting governor that enjoys constitutional immunity like the President.

“However, when we read the story titled; “2 govs under watch, face travel ban” published on Sunday by two major national dailies, we have no option than to once again alert the public on President Buhari’s new dictatorial plot to infringe on the constitutional rights of Governor Fayose just because of his critical position on the President’s dictatorial tendencies.

“The question is; if Governor Fayose has become a threat to the security of Nigeria just because he criticises President Buhari and says the truth about his mis-governance of the country, is this not a confirmation that the President hates dissenting views?

“Section 35 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) provides that; “Every person shall be entitled to his personal liberty and no person shall be deprived of such liberty,” while Section 41 (1) provides that “Every citizen of Nigeria is entitled to move freely throughout Nigeria and to reside in any part thereof, and no citizen of Nigeria shall be expelled from Nigeria or refused entry thereto or exit therefrom.”

Kanye West Studio Gets Robbed

According to TMZ, Kanye West's office/creative studio in Calabasas was broken into last week. The outlet reports that police were called to the office on Tuesday (May 24) for a burglary that took place the night before. The thief apparently pried open the door of Kanye's office and stole multiple computers, both laptops and desktops.
In total, the stolen gear is reportedly worth around $20,000.

‘Ye’s camp says that there was no sensitive information on the computers’ files, and that all of the hardware has already been replaced.

So that's good! But at the same time… law enforcement believes this is an inside job coming from someone who knows exactly what goes down in that office.

Primary School Student Reportedly Turns To Snake On Assembly Ground

The shocking incident happened earlier in the week at Bulawayo, Zimbabwe as students ran helter skelter after the sudden appearance of a snake during school assembly.
The incident left many of the students injured in the ensuing pandemonium.
Speaking about what actually happened, a reliable source told Zimbabwean media outlet, B-Metro : “It’s not really clear what caused the children to run away from school because there are two different versions; both involve a snake.
When they were at the assembly point, it’s said one pupil fell down and started moving like a snake resulting in teachers and pupils scurrying. “Some pupils claim it was a real snake and they ran away after seeing it.
“Others just screamed and followed the rest,” he said. The incident caused the school management to cancel school lessons for the day.
Dan Moyo, the Education Director of the province is yet to confirm the particular school where the incident took place as he said he had not yet received the report from the school headmaster.

A man who touched the breasts of a young girl without her consent in Lagos is being punished for the sordid act.
The 37-year-old man, Ibrahim Abu, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Ikeja magistrate’s Court, at the weekend, for touching the breast of a 17-year-old girl (names withheld) without her consent.
According to Vanguard, Abu, who lives at 6, Mosque Close, Isheri-Olofin, Lagos State, was arraigned before Magistrate Osusanmi and sentenced last Friday for sexually assaulting the girl Monday last week.
Vanguard gathered that the girl was asked by her parents to learn hairdressing, while awaiting the release of her Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, SSCE, result.
It was learned that at 7:30p.m. last week Monday, while she was returning home, Abu accosted the victim at Baale Bus Stop Akowonjo, and touched her breast without seeking her consent.
It was gathered that in retaliation, she slapped Abu and he hit her with a plank; she reportedly fell, became unconscious and was rushed to a hospital.
Abu was later arrested by policemen attached to Shasha Police Station and the case reported to Domestic, Sexual Violence Response Team, DSVRT. Delivering her judgment, Osusanmi said the offence contravened Section 135 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Reacting over the judgement, Coordinator of DSVRT, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said: “While we are pleased with this conviction, this case depicts the current height of impunity with which abusers act.
“The success of this conviction can be linked to DSVRT’s early engagement with the concerned victim and collaboration with the police, who despite the pleas and pressures from members of the society, ensured that the case was charged to court.
“The role of the society in encouraging victims to speak out, protect victims and encourage justice is now crucial more than ever.”
Vivour-Adeniyi disclosed that “the defendant’s name and details have been entered into the S*x Offenders Register.
“We, therefore, use this medium to implore members of the society and stakeholders to play their roles in the fight against s*xual and gender-based violence.”

Don’t Lose Hope, Democracy Is A Battle, Not A Banquet — Tinubu

All Progressives Congress, APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerian democracy partisans not to lose hope upon present economic challenges, saying that the quest for democracy is a battle and not a banquet. In his Democracy Day message to the nation, Tinubu who affirmed that Nigeria is just about out of the woods nevertheless urged the authorities to choose to fight recession instead of inflation in the face of the stagflation that had confronted the country.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, said that fighting recession would help to create jobs, boost infrastructure and raise economic morale before subsequently tackling the inflation.

Noting the difficulties currently facing the nation, Tinubu while affirming that there was no better option to stick with than democracy said: “Remember, the quest for democracy is a battle not a banquet. We must stick with it and not give up hope, just when fairness and justice have finally gotten the upper hand. We must persevere not just until the tide of battle seems to have turned in our favor, but until the opponents of democracy have been decisively and thorough bested.

“Thus, we do not relent in defending democracy just as we should not relent in expecting the benefits inherent in democratic good governance. This means we must not sit back and merely let government contest with those who would again turn government against the general welfare. All of us must join the fray because the fray is about us when we live in a manner than fulfil our national purpose.

On challenges he proffered his counsel: “There is a problem that cuts all areas equally. If we are not careful, it will afflict us a long time to come. In a cold, swift stroke, the decline in oil prices has turned into a mockery the model upon which we had for so long based our political economy. We either must waste away or construct a new model.

“Our economy should diversify by expanding our infrastructure network, bolstering agricultural and farm incomes, as well as filliping industry and manufacturing to provide jobs for a rapidly expanding urban work force.”
